AVOCADO TRASH TO TREASURE

What can be easier that growing an Avocado Houseplant. We always throw out those sticky, slimy seeds after cutting up our delicious avocados. Why not make your own beautiful plant. And it is so easy! Wash the seed and put 3 toothpicks into the sides of the seed. Place the seed in a jar of water with the bottom half of the seed below the water line, and the top half above the rim of the jar. The toothpicks will hold your seed in place. Then wait as your seed forms a single root to start and then begin to grow a stem from the top. When roots are established, plant it. Repeat this with many seeds and you will have a mini-grove as in the picture below. There are four plants in this mini-grove. As fun and easy way to turn what was trash into a true Treasure for your home. But, remember an avocado is a tree, and will grow tall. We now have one outside that is nine feet tall!
