TRASH TO TREASURE

What do you do with an stained, unusable lamp shade? You create a little magic with a few simple products that you can pick up at your local craft store!

Here we have an old stained lamp shade that has been hanging around for some time now... Why I never threw it out, I have no idea. Then one day I received a package in the mail with some very pretty tissue paper. It gave me an idea! I could tear the tissue paper into small pieces and glue them onto the shade and hide all the flaws. Did it work, well you be the judge.

No Holes, Just staining. Ready for the Trash Heap!

Materials Needed: Bottle of Mod Podge TM, Craft Tissue Paper, or some Tissue Paper you might have around the house. A paint brush, and of course an old lamp shade.

Instructions are simple, and fun! Just dust off your shade, removing any dust. Tear or Cut your tissue paper as you go. Apply glue to the area being worked on. Place the tissue paper onto the glued area. Smooth out with paint brush. Wrinkles are fine, they add to the character of the finished shade. When you get to the top or bottom of the shade, use the straight edges of the tissue paper to finish off. You can also cut out designs in your paper for added visual pleasure. Glue will dry clear and give a nice matte finish. My husband was even surprised with this one.

Finished Shade!  A True Twice Loved Treasure!

And of course, we must not forget how the shade looks when there is light behind it..... a visual delight!
