ADD ROMANCE TO YOUR BEDROOM ON A BUDGET!

How do you add Romance to your Bedroom on a budget? With Garage Sale and Thrift Store finds!

My inspiration for the room came from a Beach House on the California Coast. I loved the relaxed feeling I received when I stayed in that room and wanted to capture and hang on to that feeling forever! Now the room did not happen over night. It was a slow process, as with most great rooms. But I can say, the first thing I did when I returned home was to go out and buy a new mattress. This I did shop around for, and paid good money for. You are not going to relax, if you don't have a decent mattress. I also paid full price for just the right sheets. The next items I wanted were lamps.. And we all know how expensive lamps can be... Well...... 

I saw this same lamp at a gift shop on the pier in San Francisco. They wanted $59.00 dollars for it. I really wanted that lamp, but refused to spend the money. As with most things I see, I thought, "I can make that myself." What I did not expect, was to find the lamp base the next day at my local Thrift Store. True Story! There it was, minus the sea shells. The Price! A mere $4.50. I grabbed it! I next went to a craft store and bought the shells for $10.00, added two 40 watt bulbs and for $14.50 I had the $59.00 lamp I had wanted so badly. You can pick up the same lamp at any Lighting store and buy the Shells and get the same effect! FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST!

Another $4.99 Lamp... Perfect Condition. Once again, at a Thrift Store.

I really like how these tie-backs turned out. Can you tell what they are? Well if you can't here is a hint, Candle Holder. Yup, they are wall candle holders turned upside down.  Look again and see how they look in the full picture at the top. I paid $4.50 each for them at a second-hand store and added the beaded tassel that I bought from a Department store Christmas section and I had the perfect romantic accessory! I paid more for the tassel's than I did the candle holders! The netting is mosquito netting that you can find at most import stores. 

I will be adding more  accessories in the days to come... so far the total for this Room Makeover, not including the bed, sheets or netting, is just $38.47.
